Challenge for me.
We were challenged to use a holiday themed paper in a
NON-holiday LO!!
WHAT??
I had never even considered this. So I thought about different
holiday themed papers I had. I LOVED Julie's @ HisGlorygirl's take on
it with the 4th of July paper. So that got me to thinking about
the different kind of themed paper I have in my stash, not just Christmas =),
and remembered that I had some Tim Holtz holiday paper
in my stash that I LOVE, but that has never seen the light of day on a page.
So I pulled it out. I really thought I would use the bunny (Easter)
paper on a garden LO (which I may still do at some point),
but then I saw the Valentine's paper and knew that was it.
At first, I thought about a LO with me and My Mr. Winslow,
but then I saw the vintage child's Valentine's theme of this paper
and decided that I should dig out a photo of my gbabe from
the younger years (he is 4 now) and use it.
So I did.....
and LOVE IT!!!!!
I cut 1/2" inch of the top and side of my Tim Holtz paper,
and then mounted it on navy blue cardstock. I really wanted
to bring out the navy in the PP.
Then I cut my photo down to 4 x 4 and added a Maggie Holmes
frame, kind of haphazardly. Then decided on some gold and blue
accents. The gold doily was a garage sale find. WOOT!!!
Look at these gold Thickers.
Yes Please. Every.day.of.the.week.
And this boy.
Oh this boy.
I added some Tim Holtz stickers from one of his sticker books.
All of his pieces, even if not from the same line, go so very well
together.
This was an absolute BLAST!!!
I love to think outside the box, and with this,
I certainly was able to do just that.
Have a Blessed and Beautiful,
Crafty Kind of Day ~~
the gold alpha is amazing and the tie in with the gold doily is perfect
