It's Just Smashing..... Simply Smashing!!!

So quite some time ago,
my son asked me to do a scrap book for him
of the items he had on his door when he lived here.

He is now 20 and no longer lives at home,
and I have pondered and pondered exactly how I should do this for him,
well I decided a Smash Book would be just the thing.
And since there are lots of pages in Smash Books,
I have been able to add LOTS of pictures and extras to his book
along with things that were on his door.

I am determined to get this done by the end of the month.
It is quite doable.

And I used a lot of my goodies from my CKC for February,
and I am adding this to LLL (Layout Love Linky) over at the sweet
Ashli's blog over at the Purple Mailbox.
Please do check her out.
She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!

He LOVES bottles,
so this is just a lovely page for him.

Yes, he made the paper several times
over his HS Cross Country seasons.

And oh I got this little starburst
on a page and I used that little kite stamp
along with washi and twine,
and this adorable Kindergarten pic of my wee-babe.

He is gonna be so surprised,
this is a thank you card his
5th grade teacher gave him
for some goodies he gave her on Valentine's day.

And this boy has a very special relationship with his grandma.
They got their hair cut on the same day,
so they had to document it.

And oh do they have fun together.
I mean seriously.....
these two are all kinds of FUN!!!

Yep, there is that fun kite again,
alongside another fun stamp "Enjoy the Journey"
indeed.

This is me a few years ago on Mother's Day.
He takes me to a fun new to us
restaurant.
Fun!!!

This is something he had on his door.....
I am loving adapting these treasures to his book.
It is simply Smashing!!!  =)

Me and my boy at his Graduation Party.
Precious Memories indeed!!

And this is a LO I wanted to add to this post
because I am linking up to LLL.
I just love this one and this boy.
He is definitely a trip....
in a really good way!
=)

Thank you for coming and visiting me today.

Metal Works

So this week at the Simon Says Stamp & Show
the challenge is to use metal.
And since I am trying to get my son's Smash Book done
by the end of February,
and he LOVES clocks,
I went to my Tim Holtz tray of goodies
and pulled out this beaut.

I stamped some clocks and cut them out and glued them onto
the background with butterflies
and then gessoed and misted
and then added some beautiful
packaging that had clocks on it
on which I matted a very special picture
of my son and I
when he was in high school and ran Cross Country.
We have some wonderful memories of these events.

This was such a fun addition to his journal.
I think he is gonna love this one.

So put some metal on something and head on over to SSS to show off your work
and be entered to win a $50 GC.
Now how fun is that?!!

Life of Happiness

I just love this silly boy.
He makes for some fun LO's!!

This was right out of my CKC February kit.

I love the whimsy.....
I love the colors.....
and I love this boy.

Sorry for the absence on the blog in the last week.
I had neck surgery last Monday,
so I have been in recovery mode.
this week.
I have another post waiting in the wings,
so hopefully I will get that up tomorrow.
We are expecting an ice/sleet/snow storm tonight
and tomorrow.
So it will be a cuddle up kind of day tomorrow.

Are We There Yet?

So I am LOVING
the Studio Calico class Bright Ideas!!
This was such a great deal too.
$12!
WOW!!
I'd never taken a SC class,
so this was a first,
and I'm SO glad I did.

This is a LO from yesterday's challenge:
using maps in your LO.

I generally have trouble using the trendy map designs
you see now.
This map page I'd put in my CKC kit this month,
and so I pulled it out and was SO happy to find a way to use it.
It has been in my stash for about 2 years,
time to get it scrapped!

These are pics from going through the Twin Cities
on vacation last May.
I just LOVED these pics.
We loved going through the Twin Cities.
It was an enjoyable experience.

On this LO I cut the map into a 6x12
and then cut those pieces
and then popped every other row,
added a "We Were Here" with arrows.
I love the old map with pics of a modern city.
Makes me happy.

This page was made for a sketch challenge,
so again I pulled from my CKC kit for this month.
I LOVE this man!!
& this color combo....
& these doilies.....
& chevron washi....
& gold thickers....
& this man! :)

This is not a good pic, but is another LO made from the CKC kit
and SC's Bright idea challenge #1.
This was us from vacation last year.
I love this man so!!

We went on an adventure vacation in the BWCA
and it was fabulous and certainly was
Love in the Wild!

I'm getting so much done,
and that is making me happy.
I'm having surgery later this month,
so getting things done now is making me happy,
and I'm suppose to be taking it easy.
Scrapping is helping with that =)

The Best Man

This month at Let's Get Shabby
they have a great sketch.

Here is my take on it.
For my circle,
I took a bowl and my Versamark pen,
And drew a circle following the lip around the bowl,
And then heat embossed it in a sparkly black.

I love this picture and this man :)
It was taken on our adventure vacation we
took last year.
It was amazing and we got some fantastic shots.
Having fun finally getting them scrapped.

Thanks for stopping by.....

Bright Ideas

So I love Instagram.
And through Instagram I found out that
Studio Calico was having a new class.
I found it the last day available to sign up.
And I'm so happy I did =)

It is called "Bright Ideas"
and they have assembled some of the best designers
for this class.
Every week day in February,
they will post a new PDF and challenge.
That ='s 20!!
And it was only $12.
So happy about this class!!!

The first one was by Amy Tan.
Love her.

The first challenge was to make your own stencil.
I got a new heart punch the other day,
and so I used the negative from punching
as my stencil,
and I used a blue paint dabber to make the heart through the stencil.
I LOVE blue and yellow color combo.
It is one of my fav's.

This picture was from an adventure vacation my husband and I
took in May.  I haven't scrapped many of these pictures,
and hopefully I will get a lot of them done through this class.

This was truly a "Love in the Wild" kind of vacation.
The weather was beautiful one day of our trip.
This day.
The other days it was just pretty crazy,
but we had fun crazy weather or not.

I just love the stenciling and stitching on this page.
The zigzag stitching through the heart kinda makes it look like a heartbeat. =)
I love the wood grain Washi.....(won it over the summer =)
Love the misting and all the other hearts.....
Oh and the twine.
I really like the way this turned out.

These were papers used for my February CKC.
Gonna love them!!!

I am gonna love this class.
I need some new challenges to get me out of my current
little rut.
Not a bad rut.
Just a little one =)

I hope you have a

February CKC Kit

It is time for a new kit for CKC!!
So happy =)

So I thought that this kit was going to be great to finish a project
for my son.
And it will, but as I got to thinking about it,
I really won't be using many papers
because I am working in a Smash book for him.
So I decided to do some LO's with the paper and use
a lot of the embellies in the Smash.

So this kit started out rather large on the paper side,
and now it is big on embellies as well.

So here are my collections of papers.
There is a little red in there as well,
I just have it covered it up =)

Here are the other sides to those papers.
See there's the red pop of color.

Ahhh.....pretty Bazzil cardstock.

Now for the embellies.....
There are some Elle's Studio tags,
an Amy Tag camera,
a tag I made some time back, that will go great in his Smash book,
if I can find the right page =)
There are some rubons there too.
Plus those wood pieces.....
I have many more embellies not pictured here
that I pulled out as well.

Now here are some letter stickers that I really want to get used up.
Also that big of mess in the front is lots of die cuts,
another tag I made,
a Tim Holtz sticker book,
the Smash book rubber band,
and various and other sundry things =)
I'm so excited to get his book done this month!

Plus I will be making LO's from the papers.....
In fact, made one last night that I will be posting next.
Love.

Usually I'm more detailed on my Kit,
but got a lot on my mind =)
but this will get me started.

Thanks for stopping by.....
