Design Team Call Challenge and LO

So the Challenge I chose to do for the Design Team Call and Challenge over
at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is.....
DIY an element of  the kit I counterfeited and use it on a LO.

So in my last post I showed what I chose to DIY, those darling little bows,
and now I'm gonna use them on a LO.

This is another LO in the series I've been doing in my scrapbook this
year on my spine surgery back in February.  It has been so good for me
to document this event in our lives.  Its been a tough season, but God is
good.  In every season.

So here is one of those sweet little bows in action.
Isn't she pretty?  =)

And here is another one of those darlin's.  Yep dressed up and stuck down.
Fun.

My letters are those great white Thickers that I put in my kit, and I used
Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Primrose and Mint Green to color them.
I sprayed and then dried and then sprayed a little or a lot more =) and then
dried.  I LOVE the way they turned out.
Beautiful.

Here is my journaling, complete with these beautiful verses in James 1.
Love them.  They have been so very helpful to me.

I saw a particular hand writing that I liked, so I practiced and practiced and
practiced some more and had so
much fun, and decided to use it on this page.
LOVE the result!

I got this crazy idea to use the banner stamp that I put in this lovely kit,
but to turn it on its side and use it vertically instead of horizontally.
So pretty.
And yep there is a little peak of the Maggie Holmes Washi.
Lots of pieces of that Washi put here and there and yonder
on this page.
Love.it.

Here is some of the Oh Snap in action with that little Remember: piece,
and there is that little DIY'ed bag.  So cute!!

This has been such a beautiful experience for me.
Thank you for the Design Team Call and allowing us
to try out for this amazing blog.

Thank you for the opportunity.

DIY Bows - The Maggie Holmes Effect =)

In the Scrap Circle Kit I chose - My Favorite -
they had those GREAT Maggie Holmes fabric
bows.  And since I don't have any of those bows
I decided to DIY them.

I saw some tutorials on how to do them,
but in the end, just kind of did my own thing.

I first started with a strip of paper.....
Yep just a normal, beautiful, strip of double sided paper.....

I folded it in half.....
See that beautiful double-sided feature coming into play.....

Then I folded each side into the middle.

Then I took a small piece of the paper and turned
it to the other side and wrapped it around the center.

Pretty.

Then I took another strip of paper, just a little longer
than the bow.....
(Yep the other side of that double-sided paper).

Then cut banner type notches on either end.....

Then mounted my bow and top of that notched strip.....
and Voila!!!

And here are several DIY bows all ready to go onto my pages.
Love.

Now time to get a couple of these beauts on a page.

Stay Tuned.....
=)

Design Team Call Kit

Well, after thought and prayer, I've decided
to try out for the Design Team for Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog.
If you are not familiar with it, you should really go here and check
it out.  It is one of my favorite blogs to read and be challenged by.

In March, I was the guest designer.  It was such an honor
to be asked, and such an honor to participate.
I'd never done anything like that before, and I learned so much from it.
When I saw they were having a Design Team Call, I decided to "apply".

So the first criteria was to counterfeit your favorite kit, but since I don't
actually subscribe to any kits, I had to go on a search.

There are some GREAT kits out there.  I chose to counterfeit the
May Kit from Scrapbook Circle:  My Favorite.

I love all the colors, and the elements, and I knew I had that Maggie Holmes
Washi sheet, so this would be a great kit to build from.

Here are my selection of papers.
Included are:
Elle's Studio Day to Day
American Crafts Lucky Charm
Crate Paper DIY
Maggie Holmes for Crate the cut apart sheet
Studio Calico Memoir
And that great Maggie Holmes Washi sheet

Aren't they pretty?

Even the B sides are just fab!!

I included a cut apart sheet from the Oh Snap collection.
And a My Minds Eye label sheet.

For the letter stickers, I used a pink Doodle Bug set, that has been very well loved on and used.
And the color goes so well with the kit, so they were included =)
And I included this white Thicker set, so that I could color them to match the papers,
since I didn't have any good color matches.

The Scrapbook Circle kit included an exclusive Heidi Swapp tiny tag set,
but since I didn't have that, I cut out some tiny tags using my Tim Holtz
Tiny Tag die.  And I LOVE the result.
SO cute!!!
Why yes that is a clear acrylic sheet with velvet blue flowers.
LOVE.

I added some pins for the brads, a little Washi for good measure,
and 3 bags (1 DIY'ed).
Good stuff right there.

In my kits, I always add  little scrap sheets.  I have SO many.
I love to include a few.  And stamps.  I don't use them enough,
so this time decided to include some that I LOVE and know I'll
use.  This is an older My Minds Eye and a newer Heidi Swapp.
Love them both.  The single stamp is one I got in a studio sale.
Love.

I really LOVE the Maggie Holmes fabric bows, but do not have any.
So what's a girl to do?
Make them herself of course =)

These are not fabric, but paper.
I LOVE the way they turned out and they were oh so easy to do.
I will be doing a small tutorial on those when I post my LO.
SO cute!!!

So here is my kit.  I love it SO much!!

Thank you for this opportunity.

CKC Blog Hop ~~ WOOT!!!

This month's Blog Hop at the CKC Blog was a challenge
to use masking on a page.

I was ALL up for that.  Since I have several masks and am always
trying to use new techniques using them.
So I actually did two pages for this Challenge Hop.

This page is using a Studio Calico (I think) mask.  I love this mask
and really thought when I got it I'd use it all the time,
but that hasn't been the case.  I'm not exactly sure why,
so I was tickled, tickled I tell you to get it out and use it.

I misted using Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Peach and Teal.
I comboed it up!  Then I just my Tattered Angels mist in a
darker blue shade (not sure the color - I've had it for ever so
long! =)

I squirted and puddled and ran my puddles and just all around
played.

I'm generally not a really messy paper crafter.  I do like the
mists and paints, Smooch Inks etc., but generally I use them
more as a subtle texture on the page instead of a statement,
but this time I stated it up =)

I added lots of banners..... stamps, something I've been doing much
more of these days.....and lovin' it!!

I used some Heidi Swapp banners and rounded banner thingy,
and added that adorbs "happy" sticker.
Love it!!

Oh this boy!!!
He LOVES to mushroom hunt.
Yes that is a real thing.
And we love it.
And had the mushrooms to prove it.  =)

This was a FUN LO!!!
And out of my comfort zonekind of FUN!!
WOOT!!!!!

And this LO I actually did first, and used my Heidi Swapp
heart stencil.  I just got it very recently, and can I just tell you,
it is my new FAVORITE stencil!!!  Heidi's products are so
well made, and you can get so many of them at Michael's
and use your 40% off coupon.  WOOT!!!

I used a 4x4 picture of my Mr. Winslow and I,
again mushroom hunting.  Yes we are ate up with it.
It's ok.  We love nature.  LOVE IT!!!!!
Perfect activity for it.

More Heidi Swapp goodness in the banner.
Some stapling for some dimension and good measure.

Some stamping and twineing and some flairing.....
Yep, good times!!!

Sweet Bliss indeed!!

Thanks so much for hopping along with us.

So please visit the next blog in this lovely hop.
It is the beautiful Lesley over at Oh Blog it.

And if you need to start at the beginning head right here.

Bundle of Boy ~~ Challenge #3

Well now Challenge #3 for CKC Blog was QUITE the
Challenge for me.

We were challenged to use a holiday themed paper in a
NON-holiday LO!!

WHAT??

I had never even considered this.  So I thought about different
holiday themed papers I had.  I LOVED Julie's @ HisGlorygirl's take on
it with the 4th of July paper.  So that got me to thinking about
the different kind of themed paper I have in my stash, not just Christmas =),
and remembered that I had some Tim Holtz holiday paper
in my stash that I LOVE, but that has never seen the light of day on a page.
So I pulled it out.  I really thought I would use the bunny (Easter)
paper on a garden LO (which I may still do at some point),
but then I saw the Valentine's paper and knew that was it.

At first, I thought about a LO with me and My Mr. Winslow,
but then I saw the vintage child's Valentine's theme of this paper
and decided that I should dig out a photo of my gbabe from
the younger years (he is 4 now) and use it.
So I did.....
and LOVE IT!!!!!

I cut 1/2" inch of the top and side of my Tim Holtz paper,
and then mounted it on navy blue cardstock.  I really wanted
to bring out the navy in the PP.

Then I cut my photo down to 4 x 4 and added a Maggie Holmes
frame, kind of haphazardly.  Then decided on some gold and blue
accents.  The gold doily was a garage sale find.  WOOT!!!

Look at these gold Thickers.
Yes Please.  Every.day.of.the.week.

And this boy.
Oh this boy.

I added some Tim Holtz stickers from one of his sticker books.
All of his pieces, even if not from the same line, go so very well
together.

This was an absolute BLAST!!!

I love to think outside the box, and with this,
I certainly was able to do just that.

This Girl

This is a LO that I made from my May CKC kit.
I love this girl so much.

This picture was taken at our church at our DFL (Designed for Life)
Conference.  The Beautiful Miss A does face painting and she was
asked to face paint at our carnival after one of the services.  Here she is getting
prepared.

This was such a fun night and a beautiful conference.

That little tab at the top of the picture, I stamped with a Heidi Swapp
stamp.  I LOVE that stamp set.  One of my fav's

A little flower all distressed up.
And this title just makes me happy.
Happy I tell you.
=)

Bling and a little DIY bow and some stamping.

And oh how I love this Webster's Pages rosette trim.
And Bling.
=)

This page was so much fun.
And this girl?
Just the best!

Something Worth Fighting For.....

So there is a challenge up on the CKC Blog to make a page
using some part of a children's book; illustration, quote, etc.

So I decided to use a quote from J.R.R. Tolken's Lord of the Rings:
The Two Towers.  Because it is this beautiful girls, favorite movie.
So I looked up quotes and found this one:

"There is some good in the world, and its worth fighting for."

Now as I look at it on the screen, I realize it is hard to read,
but in person, the wording is just lovely.
Interesting that it is showing up on here this way.  Hmmmm.....
anyways.....

This is off a Prima Package.  So beautiful.
I cut the triangles in different sizes and layered.
Instant banner.

Then I had gotten this kinda crazy idea to cut out a section
of the page and and her pic fit right in there.  So I distressed
it by tearing it and staining it and roughing it up with a sand
paper stick thingy, and
Voila!  I also haphazardly zigzagged around the edge.
Love.
Love.
Love.
And added a little marker at the bottom that I also
distressed up using Tim Holtz stain.

And here is more Prima packaging.
I mean seriously, so pretty.
I distressed it up with Tim Holtz stain, again =)
and used some Smooch Ink (do y'all remember that?)
I have some in gold and blue.  I used the gold and while
you can't really see it here, it is a lovely touch to this hexagon.
And yes the two left pieces are popped up.
Ya know, for interest and all.  =)
And a little bling in the center,
because I mean bling makes it all better, yes?
Yep.

And then I distressed some lace, that I got at a garage sale over
the weekend =) and yep, used more Tim Holtz goodness.
This time in the form of a stamp pad.
And yes, more bling.

And here are those letters.
I distressed them up a little too.
Yep Tim.

I added Tim Holtz photo corners to this page, diagonal.
Love.
I roughed them up with my sanding stick thingy,
and then used Distress stain in Vintage Photo and Picket Fence.
I know.  Crazy right?  Who knew?
So fun and I loved the results.

So there we go, another challenge done.
And most importantly another picture and memory recorded.
Love.

I hope y'all have a.....

Mother's Day Mini ~~ Layout Love Linky

So for Layout Love Linky this month
over at Ashli's blog,
I wanted to show some of the mini Sir Cuteness
and I made for his mama for Mother's Day.

Him and his mama had pictures taken last fall
by a friend of hers who is studying photography.
These pics are SO great!!!
And thought it might be nice to get them in a mini for her for
Mother's Day.

I used mainly Amy Tan and also Simple Stories Vintage Stories lines.
That little arrow in the corner Sir Cuteness wanted on there.
He punched it out with a punch that I got at a garage sale last
weekend.  (I seriously hit the scrapbook jackpot this weekend
at garage sales.  WOW!!!)

The way this mini came together was that I put the picture on one side
and then on the other a saying or rub-on and some artisicality.
Is that a word?
anyways..... =)

This was the song that his mama sang to him all the time when he was
a wee-babe.
I was so very happy when I saw this in the collection.

Sir Cuteness had so much say to what when in this book.
He balled up the thread and wanted to use it in the mini,
so I put a little bling in the middle and it looks like a beautiful
flower to me.  So pretty.

Some misting.....
Some fussing cutting.....
Some banners.....
Some popping.....
Yep, sure did.

This page I put on Instagram and it is one of my fav's.
This paper is an Authentique.
Love.

And I LOVE these bingo cards from Simple Stories.
All the bingo cards from Simple Stories.
LOVE THEM.

Here is the same picture from above,
just a little different finish on the picture.
Love it.

A little Heidi Swapp masking love!
And a Prima key and some Studio Calico kraft hearts.
Love.

This is one of my fav pictures.
The way she is looking at him.
Priceless.

This is a rub-on that I love.
Such a beautiful and simplistic page.
Some times simple is powerful.
Elegant.
Love.

Oh this boy.
LOVE these Maggie Holmes fabric frames.
And this boy.
Oh this gorgeous boy!!!

Then this little beaut, Sir Cuteness wanted to include this little picture.
This is his first fish.
He wanted his mama to have this picture.
This is a paper from the Lucky Charm Collection from American Crafts,
And then the "grass" is a Heidi Swapp banner,
but instead of misting it,
Sir Cuteness wanted to paint it.
I LOVE IT!!!
Instant grass!!

Here is a little note Sir Cuteness wanted me to write for him.
And then most of the other elements on this little journal tag
are rubons.
The "Love You" is a stamp.
So sweet.

And here is the grand finale!!
Sir Cuteness wanted lots of stars on this page.
And these stars are some more garage sale goodies from the weekend.
Yep it was a good garage sale weekend =)

And then I made a little card from the left over's.
I am not a card maker, but this was fun to do.
I helped Sir Cuteness write his name inside.
So sweet.

This mini was so fun, but especially having Sir Cuteness help.
It was indeed priceless.

I love being able to share art with him.
He is developing quite an eye for art and color.
He's four.
So great!

I hope y'all have a great day ~~
