Safe and Sound ~~ Sketch Challenge CKC

So this sketch was quite the challenge for me.
I have found that I have a little trouble taking a card sketch
and converting it into a 12x12 LO.  So this was a great challenge
to take on.

We live in tornado alley.  We live just 1 hour from Joplin, MO which was
hit with a F-5 tornado 2 years ago.  That was a crazy, scary evening.
We spent that evening in our neighbor's bunker.  So my husband,
who is an amazing builder, decided to build us a safe room
This LO documents our room being done and in place.
We haven't had to get in it yet, but we did have it all stocked the day of
the Moore, OK tornado.

So here is the sketch by "the deconstructed sketch" #54.

So here is my take on this sketch.
I sprayed a Heidi Swapp mistable paper,
and then I cut down this Amy Tan paper that was in my
CKC kit, along with this pinkish, redish paper that is somewhere
around the turn of the century.  Yep she's an oldie but a goodie =)

Probably the toughest thing about this sketch for me, were the diagonal elements.
This took trying a few different things, and then decided on this MME Washi
tape.  I really love the design element this lends to this LO.
It took me a couple of tries to get the title right.  I love these yellow Thickers.
They just make me happy.

Oh this boy.  I love him so.  He just makes it all better.
Better I tell you.  Whatever it is.  A smile from him and my
heart is melted, and a hug?...I'm mush, mush I tell you!  =)

Oh be still my heart Pebbles flower.  Be still my heart.
This ribbon was white, and I sprayed it with my Tattered
Angel's in Sapphire.  It is one of my fav mists and one of the
first I purchased.  I love it so!!!  I need to get a refill, please tell
me they still make this color.  Love it!!

I journaled on the back of a tag and covered the front of it with gray cardstock and stamped
it with one of my fav stamps, this grid.

So there you have it.  My take on this fabulous sketch.
It was a challenge, but a delightful one.

CKC Challenge #1, Layout #2

For Challenge #1 over at the CKCB,
we were to be inspired by one of the DT.
And there is some loveliness to be had,
let me tell ya!!

I was SO inspired by this page over at
She is a mainly digital scrapper,
and this is a digi page.
But I loved it so much I wanted to give it a go,
even though I am not a digi scrapper.

So here we go.....
I was SO inspired by the balloon
and knew this little beaut was in my kit
so I started there.

And I had this adorbs picture of me
and Sir Cuteness (the gbabe) and my son Dak.
They definitely surround me with love!

I heart banners!
I use them a lot, and mainly I make them myself.
I cut and sew, stack and fluff.
I find that they add so much fun
and dimension to my pages.
Yep, they're a fav =)

This lovely little darling was on the sticker sheet,
and I knew it had to go on this page.
I added some twine and gave it
a little "gently blowing in the breeze"
kinda look =)

And then of course, added more twine,
because after all, I do love me some details.

I did some sewing and stick pinning
and distressing of the sewed edges.....

And I mixed and matched my title.
Because ya know, that's what I do =)

And Voila!!
Love it!!!

Thanks again Angela for the GREAT inspiration!!
It was great fun taking a digi page
and making it a paper and glue page =)
GREAT FUN!!!

I hope y'all have a.....

Our Superheroes ~~ CKC LO #1

Well now, I'd say this is the way to watch Saturday morning cartoons =)

I used some white cardstock and embellies from my CKC July Kit,
and off I went!

I scraplifted this LO from one I saw over at Twopeas.
I loved the washi background on the white cardstock,
and the arrows.

Stamped some arrows.  And also doodled some.
And added some branding strips.
I keep all my branding strips in one long basket,
so when I need a strip I can just go right to it.

This page is so linear, I thought it needed some round elements.
I loved the rounded edges of this sweet little camera and wood veneer,
and oh this twine.  I do love me some twine =)

For the journaling, I kept it simple and typed and cut.
Easy, easy.

Oh arrows, how I love thee!

Oh you two, you are just simply are the best!!!

I hope you have your kits all together and are scrapping up a storm!!
And do link up your pages and projects.  I'd LOVE to see them!!

This is such a wonderful blog, and I feel so Blessed to be part
of this amazing and talented group of Design Team members.
They are such a wonderful group of ladies that are so positive
and sweet.  I am REALLY looking forward to my time on the
Design Team.  WOOT!!

So without further ado.....
The July Kit.

This is an amazing kit to counterfeit from The Scrapbook and Cards Today.
Crop & Create: Delivered

So when I start counterfeiting a kit,
the first thing I do is take a good look at the kit,
and read the fine print, if you will.
I look at all the papers, and go through each sheet,
and if I'm not familiar with it, I look it up,
and try to get close in color and/or style.

So these are my patterned papers:
Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charm - Bright Bauble
Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charm - Float Away
Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charm - Blue Skys
Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charm - Pretty Poppies
Crate Paper - DIY - Painted Flowers
Kaiser Craft- Save the Date - Pinwheel Burst
Webster's Pages - Allison Kreft - Secret Rec
And the white cardstock with the green daisy's
is a sheet I DIY'd with some paint and a stamp.
I also included a Glitz Color Me Happy 6x6.

And the cardstock:
2 Kraft (Cream)
2 White
2 Pink (Light & Hot)

Simple Stories - Vintage Bliss - Bingo Cards
American Crafts - Amy Tan - Ready Set Go - Speech Bubbles
Dear Lizzy - Lucky Charm - Lucky Coin

Then the embellies:
You will see here a Camera Cut apart sheet,
Lace and Ribbon
Heidi Swapp Banner Pieces
Bling
Lots of die cuts and cut apart sheets

I have this sheet from the Simple Stories Summer collection
last year, and then there are some MME Collectible banners
and words card.  And some fun scrolly words.  Love those!

Some Thickers....
Yep there's that pink again.
I keep putting it in my kits.
I really want to get it used up.
Then some white ones I can color.

Lots of bits and bobs =)
Here are my go to stamp sets,
which is a MME and a Heidi Swapp.
They are just my favorite.
I also added this speech bubble set.
It's so lovely and never been used.
It so needs some love =)
Some lovely buttons and tiny clothes pins,
punched hearts and envelopes and some stick pins.
Funny fun!!!

I have some printables that need to get used,
and now is the time.  So I cut some apart and
also added some others from cut apart sheets.

This kit is so very fun and I am SO enjoying it!!!

I'm so excited to get started on the Design Team,
and make lots of fabulous pages!!

Now it's time to head to the lovely JimJam's blog at

Better Together ~~ Finishing up my June Kit

So this is the first month I can actually say
I have used up all my full sheets of patterned paper.
WOOT!!
Well technically, I have the last LO currently in progress
on my desk, but after it is complete, my PP for my CKC
June kit is all used.  SO HAPPY!!!
Trying even to use a lot of my scrap pieces on my last page.
I am really liking this and so is my stash =)

So for this one, I used this adorbs PP I got on a clearance table
at my LSS.  It is actually a valentines paper, but you'd never
know it unless this was a February LO.  Love these heart balloons.
And these two in the pic.

This is my baby sis, Dena and her daughter, my adorable niece Becca.
These two are so sweet and so very much a like.
Its uncanny I tell you.

Anyway.....

I cut 1/2' off of the top and side of my PP and backed it on a piece
that has made many a CKC kit, but hadn't made it onto a page.
Well this would be the month.  I LOVE it!!!  You can't really tell,
but the back ground is pink glittered stripes.  So pretty.

I sewed on the "Today" piece,
and layered and mixed and journaled
and layered and mixed some more.
Details people, its all in the details for me =)

A little fussy cutting.....

I got this thread at a garage for .10.
Score.
I love the color and it worked SO well on this LO.

Smile.
=)

I used a sketch from May's Camp Scrap that was suppose to be a really easy sketch.
I have a way of making easy hard I tell ya.
But it worked out beautifully =)

Thank you for stopping by!!

The Great Glittered Egg ~~ LLL

So this is a page that I'm linking to Ashli's LLL (Layout Love Linky).

This page I patterned off of a page I saw on Shimelle's blog.

This started with this beautiful boy, and a white blank sheet.

I added this wonderful arrow and sewed it on and then added some marker.  Love the results.

This was the first time I have sewed Thickers on.  How fun is this?

Added lots of bibs and bobs =)

Lots of stamping and twine and oh this boy.
This gorgeous boy!!!

Our eggs turned out so very pretty and glittery!!
And I love this boy and this page so much!!!

Thank you for stopping by.

And go by and check out Ashli's blog.
It is simply FAB!!

Look at our Garden Grow ~~ Blog Hop

Well hello there hoppers!!!

So happy you hopped on over here to see what's up
in the Farmer's Market Challenge Hop over at CKCB.

If you started at the beginning, then you are reaching me from

The challenge this month was to create a page with Farmer's Market as an inspiration.
Right up my alley.
I LOVE to garden and the Beautiful Miss A's family owns a Produce Farm,
and sits on the board of our local Farmer's Market.
It is a big deal and important part of their lives,
and not to mention, I am a frequent flier of our local Farmer's Market =)

So I started with this adorable paper.
I mean please, how cute are these clouds?!!

Back in February, just before spine surgery, I did a little Two Peas retail
therapy =) and found this adorable stamp set aptly named "Farmer's Market".
It is the sweetest little stamp set complete with a rooster and these adorable
carrots.  I mean really, how fab are these?!  =)

So as y'all probably know by now, I love the details.  And these page is
ALL about them!  These carrots are stamped in black archival ink and then
cut out and sewn on as part of my Heidi Swapp banner.
Yep I misted and stamped and sewed this banner to life.
Love it!!

I also broke out the old embossing powder and a VERY old
Simon Says Cloud Stamp.  I LOVE IT!!  I embossed these
sweet little babes to sit right alongside the other clouds on this
page.

Oh Maggie Holmes, how I love thee!!

This particular page I did using a sketch over at May Flaum's
Camp Scrap class.  And the journaling was done in strips,
so strips it is.  And yes, more delightful carrots =)

And the star of the show..... this boy.
This beautiful gbabe of ours,
LOVES to garden.
He will get out there and weed and dig,
and not even have to be asked to do so.
It's a beautiful thing!!!
He no longer digs up plants, but now he plants them.
Its a beautiful process.
He is a joy.

So I'm playing with camera angles and shots and traded my black background
for white.  I'm still really working it out, but pics are getting better.
YAY!!!

And just for good measure.....
these carrots.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and hop on other to the lovely
And she what she's got cooking up over there.
