Christmas by the Nativity

Christmas for us is about Jesus
coming to earth as a babe,
to live and to die for our sin.

When it comes to scrapbooking and crafting
I always want my faith to be very prevalent.
It is very important to me
that others know
that our lives were all about Jesus.

One day,
our great great grand babes need
to know about the faith of their
grandparents.
It will be important to their own.
Of this I am certain.

So I add our faith into my memory keeping.

Today over at the CKCB
I show a LO that I did using a card
my dear Auntie sent us this year.

We love this card so much!!
It is an interactive card,
and I wanted to make sure that it
was preserved.
The tag that is hidden behind the card
has some journaling on it
about what Jesus means to us.

I love this paper.
And so perfect for a page about the Nativity.
I kept this page very simple.
I believe that it speaks for itself.

And then I wanted to show a little different use
for a Nativity craft.
Sir Cuteness made this darling little Nativity
at preschool.
I hug it with my Christmas cards rather than
just put it on the refrigerator or in a stack
of his crafts that need to be put in a scrapbook.
I absolutely LOVE hanging this one the card wall.
Beautiful.

For some reason my pics flipped the order,
but that's okie dome.
Here is the interactive part of the card.
It opens up to reveal the Nativity scene.
Love.it.

Thank you for stopping by.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Christmas Memories

Good Friday to you!!
I hope your holiday season
is going splendidly.

Today over at the CKCB
I am up with a challenge.
My challenge to you
 is to do a favorite
Christmas memory page.

We only have a very few pictures
of our childhood,
so that makes the ones that we do
have very very special.

This particular one is very dear to my heart.
This is from left to right:
me, my baby sis Dena and my little sister Dana
(18 months younger than me).
This picture is made all the more dear,
because my sister Dana is in heaven.
She went to be with Jesus when she was 18,
so every picture we have of her is quite dear to us.

The story I tell here in my JYC2013 is of that
faux fireplace in the background.
Cardboard fireplaces (chimney's as I call them)
were all the rage in 1974 =)
There were complete with mantel and faux fire.
It was just part of our Christmas back then.
Wouldn't have felt like Christmas to us without it.

Where I was looking through the slim pickens of photos =)
I found this gem of my older sister and brother
sitting on santa's lap.
It is such a sweet photo,
and my sister Rhonda looks so much like my mom.
LOVE IT!!

The the other picture is of me and my dear Dak.
It is one of my fav pictures.
He was about 10,
and just loved his mama to bits.
Still does.

Here is our faux chimney (fireplace)
complete page.
Isn't this Crate Paper Bundled Up line
perfect for Christmas past LO's?
Love it!

And my little photo bomber and his dirty little sock
is back.
Your welcome.
=)

How sweet is the smile on my brother's face.
Love him.

These pages make me want to cry;
in a good and nostalgic way.
Ahhh.....the memories.

Thank you so much for stopping by
and
sharing in these very special memory pages.
And do please link up over at CKCB
your own special memory pages.
I'd love to share in yours as well.

Procrastinating....Just a little =)

One of the challenges over at the CKCB this
month is to document the details
of the season.

Well one of the details this month
for us has been snow.
And lots of it.
And more to come,
or so we understand.

Well, when it snows around here,
because of where we live,
you need to make sure you have
plenty of supplies for several days,
because if it gets very bad,
our roads are an absolute mess,
and you go no where.

So on this particular day,
I kept saying I needed to get to the store.
I need to go to the store.
Hey, I thought you were going to the store?
That's kind of the convo for the day.

Yep I was procrastinating.
I did make it.
We did get lots of snow.
And it made for a cute page.
Win.
WIn.
WIN!

So I decided that I'd do this page on
a slight aqua and snowy blue background paper.
I misted some snowflakes in white,
and then added them on top.
It made for an eye-popping
page.

As you can see
my "t"s are different
but it works so well in this title,
and this is one of my favorite things to do to
mix it up.

Lots of snowflakes
in lots of different elements.
I heart these sweet fabric covered brads.

I had a little photo bomber.
Meet Freddy =)

And then I want to point out my journaling.
I kept it really simple,
but I want to draw attention to the fact that
I COMPLETELY misspelled "trying",
but I just left it and moved on.
I knew because of the white Scripto
on black chalkboard,
there was gonna be no fixing it.
Yep, I moved right on.
I point this out
to be an encouragement to you.
It doesn't have to all be perfect
to be wonderful.

And here is little Freddy the photo bomber.
And my dear Sir Cuteness.
Hahahaha!!!
So Sweet!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

I hope you have a Blessed and Beautiful,

JYC Party Planning

Today's prompt for JYC was all about
the parties we throw.
I had to think about this a little bit,
because I do not consider what we do
throwing a party,
but I guess it really is.
We always call it "getting together".
Ha Ha!!

So today I really thought about how
we will "party" this year.
With the popularity of Pinterest,
and my own deep love for all things
Pinterest,
I thought how fun it would be if
a lot of our decor, dishes
and desserts were from Pinterest.
And of course, I am documenting
this process.

I am absolutely loving this process.
I am so glad that I did some pre-planning this year.
It works for me =)
It makes adding titling and journaling
so much easier.
Then I can just add my bits and bobs
and BOOM!!
Page complete.

I have had these straws for some time,
but what in the world do you do with
straws but drink through them I ask you?
Well I was intrigued,
and have seen the uber talented
Ashli Oliver use them,
and so I decided I'd give it a go.
I mean I did buy them,
on a whim,
I might add.
anyway.....
here they are dolling up my page.
I love.
Swoon.
Wish I wasn't such a crafty fraidy cat.
I'm cool like that =)

Since my Heidi Swapp mini file worked so well yesterday
I tried it again,
with splendid results.
That vintage black/gray damask folder
and then I added that smaller red
file bit on top.

Speaking of afore mentioned mini file,
I tore this red beaut
right out of my Heidi Swapp Christmas Album thingy.
The file albums really are adorable,
but I knew with doing this album,
I wouldn't need to do two,
so I decided to use it in this one,
and I am LOVING the results~~

So open this bad boy up,
and I have another little file folder from
afore mentioned Christmas album =)
Now since I tore it out of the original album,
it had the perforated edge,
but was in two pieces.
So.....

I scored right on the line between the red striped
edge and the green hounds tooth.
Then I sewed between the scored line
and the perforated edge.
I zigged and zagged and
VOILA!!

Then you open this sweet little beaut up
and because of those score lines it opens up nicely,
and because of the sewing it stays together nicely.
That's a plus =)

So in this little folder within a folder I will be
putting what I actually end up making from Pinterest.

And on the inside front cover of the original,
larger folder, I am putting in pictures from Pinterest,
a sort of mood board if you will.
I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you are thoroughly enjoying your holiday season.

JYC ~~ Journal Your Christmas ~~ 2013

Happy December!!
All this month
there will be
new daily challenges issued
at the CKCB.

One of my challenges are up over at CKCB.
It is to use tags
for gifts
and
your projects.
So fun!!

So this month I am doing
a JYC/DD combo.
I am so excited about this.

And I am using tags in
my album.

Let me give you a little sneak of day one,
then I'll show you a little something special
for day 2.

Day 1:

"Kissing by the Cannon"
This is a GREAT story.
And I'm so glad it happened on
December 01.

In my album
I added this little Heidi Swapp
mini file.
I didn't plan on doing this,
but I am so very glad I did.
It goes so well in my album.
Yes I dolled her up,
with more Heidi Swapp,
Basic Grey 25th & Pine,
washi
&
some vintage lace.
.

Then you open her up,
and I made tags
to hold my then and now
journaling.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
And be sure and check the CKCB each day
this month for a new challenge.

Grateful Mini Blog Hop

Welcome to the Member Blog Hop at CKCB.
You should have come over from the lovely Valerie.

The challenge was to make a Grateful Mini.
I just LOVE making mini's,
but I usually need a reason to make one.

Well this challenge came at a great time,
because I was doing a swap through Monica's
The Homespun Heart.
And our topic this time was on being Grateful.

I had the sweetest swap partner I've ever gotten in a swap,
and so I was really looking forward to making her
a little something something.

She is a fellow scrapbooker and loves homemade lovelies.
So I bought a little Maya Road mini,
and got to work.

Here is the cover.....
A Little Birdie Told me.....

to be.....
(a little heat embossed heart action right there) =)

Thankful.
A Banner, Thickers, Epoxy Heart and Flowers,
please.....
every day of the week!  =)
(And of course Maggie)

I used a Maggie Holmes
yes my BFF =)
6x6 paper pad by Crate.

I used up a lot of older stash,
and also some envelopes and tags.....

Oh these papers.....
they get me every time!  =)

I added lace, and tissue flowers.....
Some flair and heat embossed flower.....

Tags and Brads.....

I made sure she had plenty of spots for photos.....

And journaling.....

I was so very grateful to make a new friend.....
My Blessed swap partner Angie.

So grateful.

And this is the back inside cover.

This little mini was so fun to do.
I love pouring into a project like this.
My heart is so very full in these projects.
I truly am so grateful!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Now please go to the beautiful Cindy
and see what she has made.

And just in case you get lost along the way:
