100 % FUN!!!

So I asked myself some
questions at the start of this year
about how I wanted to blog
and what challenges I wanted to
participate in on a regular basis, etc.

Of course, I want to do a monthly kit
with CKC blog.
But I also thought about some of the other
challenges out there
and which ones really spoke to me
and why.

Well, the one that kept coming to mind
and the one I decided to start trying to do
is the one over at Simon Says Stamp.
It is a weekly challenge that goes up every Monday.
The wonderful Ashli Oliver
is on the design team
and the equally as wonderful May Flaum
heads it up.

So I decided to really challenge myself and
try to keep up with the weekly challenges.

This week it is an anything goes challenge.

So.....
Yep, what a great time to use
an over size,
big as your head % sign
that goes wonderfully
because of the oversize,
big as your head picture.

This is an iPhone pic
blown up to an 8x8
from Persnickety.
Seriously didn't have high hopes
that it would turn out well,
but oh my goodness,
it is FANTASTIC!!!
Look at his gorgeous face.
Our Sir Cuteness as the most beautiful
eyelashes, and I know you can't see them
here, but they showed up SO well
in this print.
LOVE.

So the % sign is wood veneer,
ginourmous wood veneer!
So at first I thought maybe I'd try
Perfect Pearls to spruce it up.
#epicfailure
So I covered it and embossed it with white.
Better, but still could see the PP
SO I embossed it again with the white
and voila!
I love the outcome!!
At first you don't succeed and all that.
Ya know...

And then of course Maggie.
Have y'all seen her new
Styleboard line coming out soon?
Yes, It will be making an appearance
here on ye ole blog.
I am certain of it!!!

Hey, thanks for stopping by.
Leave me some love
and follow me if ya'd like.

Celebrate Good Times. Come On.... Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

So I always look at the challenges every week over at SSS through
Ashli's blog, and even participate sometimes, BUT it seems that
I never get my pics of said completed challenge project done,
and before I know it is Monday again, and my project didn't
make it up on their blog.

SO, I am challenging myself to doing these challenges every Monday,
AND get them up on the SSS blog.....starting THIS week.

So here we go.....
=)
The challenge this week is "Celebrate".
When I make a page about a celebration,
I rarely like to do a page LOADED with the overall topic
of celebration, like say a birthday.

I might go with the color scheme of the party,
or the style of something like that, but RARELY will you
see a very overt celebration page from me.
It stems from my early days of scrapbooking
where EVERYTHING I did seemed to be very themed.
BUT I made an exception, sort of, for this page and
this topic.

I did a VERY themed 4th of July page as far as product
is concerned, but what you will find missing, are the very
themed 4th of July photos of fireworks, cookouts
and sparkler pics.

You see this 4th, my man and I ventured out on an
adventure in the wild.  Complete with backpacks and
tent, we decided to go on a little trip in the woods to the
lake.  Now the plan was to find fireworks at the lake of
course, but we never found the lake.
We're cool like that.
Instead, we took a wrong turn and ended DEEP in
snake and tick country.  Luckily we saw no snakes,
but the ticks nearly carried us off!!!

anyway.....

We saw no fireworks, ate peanut butter (for him),
almond butter (for me) and crackers for supper,
and turned in early and listened to the fireworks
just across the hill from us, that we couldn't seem to find.
Again with the coolness.
I know.  =)

So when I saw the topic this week, I pulled out my
CKC July Kit and used just a couple embellies from it,
pulled out my Twopeas July Printables, some Pink Paislee paper
that I got on clearance at my LSS, because it  was last
years line, a crackle tag I made in Claudine Hellmuth's
Technique Toolbox class, and the inside of Sir Cuteness'
poppers, and went to town.
Oh yes and three pics from our very unorthodox 4th of July.
Yes, it is the way we roll.

I fussy cut pinwheel like goodness.....
Added a "celebrate" sticker from my kit.....
Added that printable.....
Made me a banner.....
And mists.....
Oh sweet fireworks those mists.....

Some Simple Stories Title Goodness.....
with a little improvisation on the "B".....
=)

There's that lovely popper goodness.....
and that tag.....
Oh that tag.....

Some more fussy cutting of the chevron....
Some bling.....
And called her good.

This page was SO much fun to do!!!!!
I'm so glad I preserved these memories and got to
use some lovely 4th of July papers.

Celebrate Good times y'all =)     Come on!!
And play along at SSS.  It is so much fun!!!

I hope you have a Blessed and Beautiful, Krafty Kind of Day ~~

Metal Works

So this week at the Simon Says Stamp & Show
the challenge is to use metal.
And since I am trying to get my son's Smash Book done
by the end of February,
and he LOVES clocks,
I went to my Tim Holtz tray of goodies
and pulled out this beaut.

I stamped some clocks and cut them out and glued them onto
the background with butterflies
and then gessoed and misted
and then added some beautiful
packaging that had clocks on it
on which I matted a very special picture
of my son and I
when he was in high school and ran Cross Country.
We have some wonderful memories of these events.

This was such a fun addition to his journal.
I think he is gonna love this one.

So put some metal on something and head on over to SSS to show off your work
and be entered to win a $50 GC.
Now how fun is that?!!

~~ Sentimentally Speaking ~~

This is the first time I am linking up with SimonSaysStamp Challenge.
This week's challenge was to make something with a sentiment,
so I decided to take my add on CKC card kit and make a couple of cards.

I found a card on Pinterest that I liked,
so I decided to do a little scrap lifting and
Voila'!!!

Lovely card!!

A close up
detailing the details =)

I actually made this card first.....
Love the colors.....
and the vintage page in the middle.

Let's detail it, shall we?

This was SO fun!!
